The International Union of Muslim Scholars offers its heartfelt condolences to the Yemeni people and the broader Muslim community on the loss of Sheikh Abdul-Majid bin Aziz Al-Zindani. As a founding member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, he left an indelible mark through his various roles, including founding Al-Iman University in Yemen and the International Commission for the Scientific Miracles in the Quran and Sunnah in Mecca. He also served as the president of the Consultative Council of the Yemeni Islah Party and was a key founder of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen.

Sheikh Al-Zindani passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, corresponding to 13 Shawwal 1445 AH, moving on to the mercy of Allah.

Early Life and Education

Born in 1942 in the village of Al-Dhahabi, Ibb Governorate, Yemen, Sheikh Al-Zindani's roots trace back to the Zindan area in Arhab, Sana'a Governorate. He began his education in local Quranic schools before pursuing formal education in Aden, and later in Egypt at the Faculty of Pharmacy. However, his passion for Islamic sciences led him to abandon pharmacy after two years, instead immersing himself in Islamic studies, particularly during his time at Al-Azhar University.

He furthered his education in Saudi Arabia, engaging with leading scholars like Sheikh Abdullah bin Baz and Sheikh Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Uthaymein, and earning a Ph.D. from Umm Al-Qura University in Sudan. His scholarly journey was marked by a deep commitment to understanding and articulating the scientific miracles in the Quran.

His leadership roles extended to the Ministry of Education and he played a pivotal role in curriculum development, particularly in biology.

His books and compositions include: "Science of Faith," "The Path of Faith," "Towards Faith," "Monotheism," "The Scientific Proof in the Quran," and "Foundation of Scientific Miracles in the Quran."

The Islamic nation has lost a mujahid and a scholar from among its devoted and noble scholars. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to forgive him and have mercy on him with extensive mercy, to pardon him, to reward him with the best of rewards, to honor his residence, to admit him into the paradise of Firdaus, to gather him with the prophets and the truthful and those are excellent companions, and to grant patience and solace to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and admirers. Indeed, He is the best Master and the best Responder.
