Islamic University in Bangladesh Appoints Dr. Muhammad Al-Anwari as Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religions

 

The Islamic University in Bangladesh has announced the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Al-Anwari, a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and professor in the Department of Da‘wah and Islamic Studies, as Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religions for a two-year term starting from May 11, 2026.

Dr. Al-Anwari is regarded as one of the most prominent academics specializing in the fields of Da‘wah and Islamic studies. He is known for his distinguished scholarly and intellectual contributions both inside and outside the university, which has led to his appointment receiving wide acclaim in academic and scholarly circles.

The appointment ceremony was attended by a number of prominent academic and administrative figures, led by the Vice-Chancellor of the university and former dean, Professor Dr. Naqeeb Muhammad Nasrullah, as guest of honor, along with the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. Yaqoub Ali.

The event was also attended by the Member of Parliament for Kushtia-3 constituency and former university graduate, Maulana Amir Hamza, in addition to several current and former deans, university professors, and senior officials.

Speakers at the ceremony praised Dr. Al-Anwari’s academic and administrative competence, expressing their hope that the faculty would witness a new phase of academic development and research excellence under his leadership, further strengthening its position in the fields of Islamic studies and comparative religions at both local and international levels.

In the same context, both the President and the Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars sent congratulatory messages to Dr. Al-Anwari, expressing their sincere congratulations on this academic trust, and wishing him success in his new responsibilities, hoping that his efforts will contribute to advancing Islamic studies and enhancing the academic progress of the faculty.
