Launch of the "From Egypt to Gaza" Charity Marathon with Wide Participation and Blessed Humanitarian Contributions

On Friday, Cairo, the capital of Egypt, witnessed the launch of a distinctive humanitarian event, the "From Egypt to Gaza" marathon, organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Solidarity.

The generous support of the Egyptian people was evident through the participation of more than 10,000 individuals in this symbolic marathon, aimed at providing aid and support to the residents of the Gaza Strip amidst the difficult circumstances they are experiencing.

The marathon was initiated from the Wadi Degla Protectorate in the Maadi area, south of Cairo, as a pioneering initiative by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity.

This significant humanitarian event saw the presence and participation of several senior government officials and public figures, including the Minister of Youth Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad, along with the President of the National Council for Human Rights, Moshira Khattab, and members from both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

In the spirit of solidarity and humanitarian contribution, participants in the marathon gathered important donations that were used to prepare an aid convoy consisting of 50 food trucks, which was sent towards the Gaza Strip, adjacent to the Egyptian border.

Awareness and motivational campaigns were organized to collect donations before and during the marathon, contributing to the success of this noble humanitarian initiative.

This humanitarian event comes amidst the ongoing Israeli escalation in the war on the Gaza Strip since October 7th of the previous year, highlighting the importance of support and solidarity with the Palestinian people under these difficult circumstances.

In her speech, the Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized that the charity marathon represents a strong message from the Egyptian people to their brothers in the Gaza Strip, pointing to Egypt's constant commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.

The minister explained that Egypt's humanitarian efforts to relieve the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amounted to about 200,000 tons, transported and delivered either by land, air, or sea.

She noted that the aid provided by Egypt constituted more than 60 percent of the total aid received by the sector, among 37 countries, according to the official statement.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mostly children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and massive destruction of infrastructure, leading to Tel Aviv being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of "genocide."
