The Secretary-General of the Union appeals to Arab and Western countries to stop the genocide in Palestine

The Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Salabi, called on Arab and Western countries to take immediate action to stop the genocide being carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, now in its fourth consecutive month.

Stopping the Genocide

Al-Salabi pointed out the importance of stopping the bloodshed and confronting the genocide waged by the Israeli forces using the latest and most severe weapons. He also expressed optimism about the role of the European Union in this context, suggesting that it could play a historic role in stopping these events.

Hamas Movement

In a related context, Al-Salabi discussed the initiative of Josep Borrell, the European Union's Foreign Policy Chief, regarding the management of the Gaza Strip after the war with Hamas. He emphasized the importance of the Arab countries' role in managing the Palestinian sector in the future, stressing that the issue is linked to the will of the Palestinian people and their choice of government and system to manage their affairs.

Al-Salabi concluded by urging the West and the European Union to seriously consider the widespread global solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are suffering displacement, abuse, and killing in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. He stated, "The lack of serious commitment by Europe to stop this bloodshed will cast negative shadows on European peoples, who largely reject this injustice."

He added: "Affirming the complicity of some Western governments in supporting the occupation and its crimes, which contravene all laws, is a reminder of the colonial and occupation era that our region's peoples suffered in the last century. However, our countries eventually liberated themselves and the peoples triumphed."

International Union of Muslim Scholars

Al-Salabi affirmed that the International Union of Muslim Scholars, as an institution interested in directing Islamic discourse and promoting values of moderation, extends its hand to political leaders in Western countries in general, and European countries in particular, as well as their intellectual elites and religious institutions, to ally against the genocide carried out by the Israeli occupation, disregarding laws or the cries of the victims, including women, children, the elderly, and civilians.

He continued: "Injustice, tyranny, deviation from the values of the Lord of the Worlds are causes for the demise of civilizations and states, and these are the divine laws brought by all heavenly messages, culminating in the message of Islam."

Al-Salabi praised the position of the European Parliament, which last Thursday decided on a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, considering it a positive step in the right direction.

Saving the Gaza Strip

Last Thursday, the European Parliament adopted a "non-binding" resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and providing humanitarian aid to the region.

According to the news website "Euro News," the resolution, passed by a majority of 312 votes against 131, with 72 abstentions, came during a plenary session of the Parliament in Strasbourg.

In the text of the resolution, the Parliament called for the first time for a "permanent ceasefire," on the condition that this be achieved through "the release of all hostages in Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas," as per the news website.
