The union holds a press conference with the attendance of a number of scholars to recite a fatwa on the duty of Islamic governments in confronting aggression.

A press conference was convened at the headquarters of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) in Doha, Qatar, at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. with several scholars from the Union in attendance, chaired by the Union's Secretary-General, His Eminence Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi. Amidst the ongoing Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip, the Ijtihad and Fatwa Committee of the IUMS issued a significant fatwa delivering a powerful message about the duty of Islamic governments to counter this egregious assault. The session, hosted at the Union's global headquarters in Doha, highlighted the critical need for immediate action and full support to prevent the annihilation and wholesale destruction of Gaza.

The fatwa underscores the duty to support Palestine on religious, political, legal, and ethical grounds, calling for rapid and effective action by Islamic governments and their official military forces to halt the Zionist aggression. The fatwa also underlines the necessity of collaboration and coordination among Arab and Islamic nations, particularly the four neighboring states (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon), to establish global equilibrium and guard against oppression.

In its conclusion, the fatwa reiterated the call for jihad and providing aid in Palestine as a mandated religious duty and a responsibility of the Islamic and global human community, while condemning silence and inaction towards the aggression. This declaration is part of the IUMS's ongoing efforts to bolster the Palestinian cause and support the Palestinian people during these dire times.
