International Islamic Fiqh Academy issued the following statement about Syria

Statement of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy concerning the incidents in Syria

All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon his messenger, Muhammad, and his family and companions.
The council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy held in its 20th session at Oran city in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on 26 Shawwal of the year 1433 of hijrah, the 12th of September 2012

In following the current incidents in the Syrian Arab Republic for over eighteen months, and demands by its people for freedom, dignity and putting an end to oppression, that started as peaceful protests which the ruling regime met with killing and aggression on money and honor, and destruction of homes, the IIFA condemns these barbaric acts and declares:

First: its support for the Syrian people in their demands of freedom, dignity and honor.

Second: stresses that Syria remains unified, and condemns all calls for fragmentation, sectarianism, and division.

Third: condemns the barbaric assault on peaceful protesters, killing them, and savage mutilations, and condemns the destruction of cities, villages and the damage of crops and cattle.

Fourth: demands the Syrian regime to immediately stop the aggression, the killing and spilling of blood, and to end all forms of armed confrontation.

Fifth: demands releasing all detainees as soon as possible.

Sixth: demands the Syrian regime to allow humanitarian relief agencies to treat the wounded, and provide aids of food and medication to the injured and deprived.

Seventh: calls on the international community and all countries of the world to stand in one line by the Syrian people, and demands all countries to side with people and their interests.

Eighth: demands all countries and nations of the world to extend a hand to the Syrian people providing humanitarian assistance, protecting citizens, and relieving refugees as well as displaced and wounded people.

And our last call is that all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
