The Union Calls for Ramadan Observance with Charity, Support for Gaza, and Media Advocacy

The International Union of Muslim Scholars congratulates the Islamic nation on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a blessed month during which Allah mandated fasting upon us and revealed His book. It encompasses a night better than a thousand months, making it the month of the Quran, fasting, benevolence, kindness, repentance, forgiveness, and liberation from Hellfire. It is a time for earnestness, action, and celebrating the great Islamic victories in our glorious history.

If closeness to Allah is a "trade" that saves from punishment, then Ramadan represents the ultimate season for a Muslim's trade with Allah. It necessitates making the most of every moment, offering sincere acts of worship, renewing the covenant with the Creator, seeking forgiveness with the creation, and striving to ascend in spiritual development and closeness to Allah.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars encourages its members and the blessed Islamic nation to:

  1. Utilize every moment of this month in connecting with the Book of Allah and His houses, and hasten to engage in all forms of goodness through prayer, supplication, remembrance, maintaining ties of kinship, and showing mercy.
  2. Practice solidarity and benevolence by donating and giving to the weak, poor, and needy across the Islamic world. Our noble Prophet - peace be upon him - was especially generous during Ramadan, particularly towards our brothers in Gaza who exhibit dignity and resilience in the face of both distant and close conspiracies, and valiantly defend the lands and sanctities of the Muslim nation.
  3. We urge the initiation of meaningful and constructive initiatives in response to the torrent of trivial and destructive media that targets our innate nature and morals, negatively influencing our generations through harmful series and programs that erode our values and culture. Let us make Ramadan a response to Allah's will for repentance upon His servants, as He says: "And Allah wants to accept your repentance, but those who follow [their] passions want you to digress [into] a great deviation."

We pray to Allah to make us among those who listen to the word and follow the best of it, to bless our nation in this great month, and to return it to our nation and all humanity with security, faith, peace, and safety.

Happy new year to you all.
