On Tuesday, September 20, Vice President Maarouf Amin received the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Habib Salem Al-Saqqaf Al-Jafri.
The meeting between Maarouf Amin and Salim Al-Saqqaf follows the recent assignment of the Board of Trustees to assume the presidency of the union until the end of the current session to replace the resigned president, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Raisouni.
Maarouf Amin commended Al-Saqqaf's election and called on him to demonstrate the values of Islam
- peace, tolerance, and interdependence with the various components of Indonesian society.
Activate the main Articles of Association
The meeting came in implementation of what was stipulated in the Articles of Association of the Union to activate Article (31) of it, which states that: President of the Federation in its first meeting).
Who is Dr. Habib Salem Al-Saqqaf Al-Jafri?
Dr. Habib Salem Saqqaf Al-Jafri was born in Solo, a part of Central Java Province, in Indonesia on July 17, 1954 AD. His eminence obtained a doctorate in Sharia from the Islamic University in 1986 AD.
He held the position of Minister of Social Affairs in Indonesia, and worked as a lecturer in postgraduate studies at the State Islamic University of "Sharif Hidayatullah" in Jakarta, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia at the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Jakarta affiliated to Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.
He also served as Director of the Sharia Advisory Center in Jakarta, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bait Al Mal "Moamalat", a member of the Sharia Board of Islamic Insurance "Takaful", and a member of the Sharia Board of the National Bank of Jakarta.
