The Union calls on Muslims and those with living consciences to actively participate in a comprehensive global strike tomorrow, Monday, with the aim of stopping the war on Gaza

The International Union of Muslim Scholars Calls for Strong Participation in a Global Strike on Monday, December 11, 2023, to Stop the War on Gaza

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his companions, and those who follow him. Following closely the ongoing bloodshed, loss of lives, destruction of buildings, and the dire situation in Gaza, the Global Union of Muslim Scholars cannot but continue its efforts to support the persistence of Muslims in this sacred land and their resistance against the Zionist occupation. Allah has entrusted scholars with the duty to clarify the truth to people and not to conceal it.

As the global community begins to feel the impact of a comprehensive boycott, and as charitable organizations and institutions fulfill their financial and humanitarian duties, the United Nations Security Council has failed to reach a decision to stop the war, due to the American veto that nullified the agreement of the countries on this necessary humanitarian resolution. This situation demands a reconsideration of the veto legislation and the adoption of decisions by an absolute majority vote!

Given the current situation and the international community's failure to stop the bloodshed and its inability to act, the Global Union of Muslim Scholars calls upon the masses worldwide, especially in countries with oppressive governments supporting this aggression, to participate in a comprehensive global strike. This strike aims to bring all activities of life to a complete halt until these oppressive governments respond to the people's wishes and stop this war led by America and the Zionist lobby.

Striking is a legitimate and globally recognized legal tool. In our noble Islamic law, the means are judged by their ends, and what is necessary to fulfill an obligation becomes an obligation itself. The strike is a means to achieve Islamic and human brotherhood and responds to the numerous Islamic texts in the Quran and Sunnah that encourage cooperation in righteousness and piety, and in achieving brotherhood and supporting the oppressed.

The Union appeals to the Islamic Ummah and the world at large to commence this strike on Monday, December 11, 2023, corresponding to 27 Jumada al-Awwal 1445 AH. The strike should continue and progress forward, rallying institutions, bodies, parties, movements, and major figures worldwide until its goal is achieved: to stop this unjust war and save as many innocent lives and souls as possible: 'And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely' [Quran 5:32].

Sunday: 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1445 AH Corresponding to: December 10, 2023
