IUMS slams prosecution of Egyptian president-elect, says is prosecution of people’s choice

For the first time in Egyptian history, a president who is legitimately-elected according to a free choice by the people is prosecuted after being kidnapped by the coup perpetrators during these cruel months that saw these authorities kidnapping and killing thousands who reject the rebellion against people’s electoral will, and defend the legitimacy, freedom, dignity, and the achievements of the Jan 25 revolution.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars condemns all the actions of the coup leaders in Egypt that entailed violation of the electoral legitimacy and constitutional institutions, and assaults on the sanctities of the honorable Egyptian people; their souls, freedoms, sacred places of worship. Hence, the union calls the Egyptian people to protest on streets, in open areas, cities, and villages while observing the peacefulness of their action to condemn the actions of the coup authorities that breached the respectful status of the Al-Azhar University campus and other Egyptian universities, arrested free Egyptian women, girls, students, and finally sought to prosecute the elected Egyptian president who represents constitutional legitimacy, and the freewill of the Egyptian people.

The union, thus, wished to underscore the following points:

1- Calls coup authorities, officers of the Egyptian army and their aides of civilians, media figures to return to the truth, restore legitimacy and constitutional institutions elected by the people who made sacrifices during the Jan 25 revolution and before that, offering the pure souls of their children to earn their freedom and restore their dignity.

2-The union calls all honorable, honest Egyptian people to stand united, and continue to escalate their peaceful protests until their hijacked rights return with the reinstatement of electoral, constitutional legitimacy.

3-The union calls all agencies and rights organizations; Arab, Islamic, and international ones, and all free, honorable people in the world to support the resilience of the Egyptian people in their attempt to restore its legitimate authorities, and stand firmly in the face of any new development that aims at assaulting this legitimacy similarly to the prosecution of elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

4-The union bears the tidings to the honorable Egyptian people, who defend their legitimacy, freedom and sanctities, as well as honorable people in the world who stand on their side, that victory shall come soon, that injustice prevails only for an hour, while the truth prevails until Judgment Day. {And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart.”} [Quran 17:81]. The dawn of truth is inevitable since justice doesn’t last, and the darkness of injustice shall be lifted, and shall diminish.

{As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does God present examples.} [Quran 13:17]
