IUMS calls Egyptians for uniting around legitimacy, invoking their civilized history

All praise be to Allah and peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, God’s messenger, and his family, companions and followers;

The International Union for Muslim Scholars follows the turn of events in beloved Egypt where attempts are made to stir sedition, divide the citizens of this one country, conspire against the legitimate authorities, and topple the authority of the elected president.

The IUMS has also observed with deep interest the calls by President Mohamed Morsi to Egyptians to cast their votes in the referendum over the draft constitution put together by the constituent assembly, the committee formed through consensus among all political powers, some of whom later repudiated the committee.
Witnessing these incidents, the IUMS views and affirms the following:

First: The IUMS calls on Egyptian people with all their affiliations to support every step that would achieve security and stability in Egypt, to abandon violence in all its forms and asserts that national problems can only be resolved through dialogue on the way to reaching specific mechanisms for national healing.

Second: The IUMS calls on all Egyptians to participate positively in the referendum over the constitution and vote for the first draft constitution to be written by Egypt’s elected citizens, as opposed to being imposed on them, as such participation would lead the country to stability, allow production to reel, and investment to flourish.

Third: The IUMS urges all political sides to turn to the people for judgment through the referendum and ballot boxes not through amassing protests. The Union also asserts that the Egyptian people are a shrewd nation, with the ability to express their opinion and that no one can undermine them, impose their will on them, or speak in their name.

Fourth: The IUMS underscores the importance of unity and participation in building the country under the all-gathering umbrella of the revolution, our love to Egypt that binds us, and our desire to see a sunny tomorrow unfolding before us. The time has come for Egypt to rise from its set back, rise above its wounds, pace forward to catch the speeding wheel of the developed world and be at the vanguard of its fellow Arab countries.

Fifth: The IUMS views that anyone who declares alliance with the remnants of the former regime facing the elected institutions is a traitor to their country, ungrateful to the blood of the martyrs whom they trade with their death and claim to seek their rights.

Sixth: The IUMS calls on all revolutionaries who gathered in liberation plazas with their different inclinations and beliefs to give no chance to the remnants of the former regime to hijack their revolution, speak in its name, or take control over it.

Seventh: The IUMS asserts the necessity to place the best interest of the country above any other consideration, and the need for some opposition to rise to the responsibility and avoid choosing political and party gains over the best interest of Egypt.

Eighth: The IUMS praises the participants in the dialogue between the presidency, Islamic powers and civil ones and urges the remaining powers to join them.

At the conclusion, we beseech Allah to protect Egypt, its wealth, its people, and its legitimate elected leadership from implicit and explicit strife, to turn the schemes of its enemies into their doom and return them with shame.
{ "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate now after You have guided us, but grant us mercy from Your own Presence; for You are the Grantor of bounties without measure.} [Quran 3:8]

And from Allah is all assistance!
