IUMS mourns the victims of the earthquake in Iran, Pakistan, calls for Muslim support

All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, God’s messenger, and on his family, companions, and followers;

The International Union of Muslim Scholars follows with concern the aftermath of the earthquake in Iran that killed dozens and left hundreds others injured. The earthquake is considered the fiercest to hit Iran in 40 years, with a magnitude of 7.8, leaving behind incredible destruction in the Iranian region of Sistan Baluchistan. The tremors of the earthquake reached Pakistan where 34 people were killed and hundreds wounded, spreading panic and fear in most Gulf cities.

In view of these tragic humanitarian conditions, the IUMS emphasizes the following:

1- The union mourns the victims of the earthquake and declares complete sympathy and solidarity with the Iranian and Pakistani people in this calamity, hoping that Allah will alleviate its effects and pains for them.

2- The union urges all relief agencies in the world, particularly Muslim ones, to amass capabilities for the rescue of those afflicted by the incident as humans are honored in their souls {We have honored the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favors, above a great part of our creation.} [Quran 17:70]. Hence, the obligation to rescue is inclusive of all humans, and even every living creature.

We ask Allah to show His mercy and kindness to His servants, and our last call is that all praise be to Allah, the lord of the worlds!
