IUMS mourns the departure of IUMS member sheikh Abdulkadir Nur Farah

The International Union of Muslim Scholars received with deep sadness the news of the martyrdom of Sheikh Abdulkadir Farah, IUMS member, on Friday the 5th of Rabea Al-Akher coinciding the 15th of February 2013 while performing Al-Asr prayer at the Al-Badr Mosque in the city of Garowe in the centre of Somalia at the hands of a member of extremist militant groups.

Sheikh Abdulkadir – may Allah bless his soul – was a scholar known for his efforts inside the country and outside it. He called people for Allah according to the moderate method of Ahl Al-Sunna Wal Jama`a, the agreed Sunni method, and was known for his audacity and courage in voicing the truth.

The union calls the Somali people to unite against extremists to preserve the elements of the Somali society, protect the souls of scholars and national cadres.

As the union offers its condolences to the martyr’s family, it prays to Allah to enthral the deceased with His mercy and forgiveness and to resurrect him with the prophets, truthful believers, martyrs, and good men, and what a great company they are!

The union prays to Allah to grant the children of the martyr and his family patience and solace for we all return to Allah, for, as the Quran reminds {All that is on earth will perish:} [Quran 55: 26] and {Every soul shall have a taste of death} [Quran 21: 35], and we say what Allah – exalted He be – ordained us to say {To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return}.
